Welcome to Sproughton, pronounced Spror-ton according to Wikipedia, a village situated three miles west of Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.
The mediaeval heart of the village includes a listed Church, a restored Water Mill, now privately owned, and the Tithe Barn. On the crossroad formed by Lower Street and Burstall Lane is the Wild Man pub, with records showing a landlord in situ as far back as 1844.
The Community Shop, accessed via the Tithe Barn courtyard is a tardis of wonderful local produce and grocery essentials. It was opened in 2010 and is managed by an enthusiastic group of volunteers, all with strong links to the village.
There's a primary school, sports facilities, countryside walks on the door-step and several active social and community groups covering a multitude of interests.
Regular events involving local residents, both the organising of and participating in, include the annual Sproughton Beer Festival at the Tithe Barn.
