Babergh District Council is consulting on a proposed conservation area in the parish of Sproughton. The proposed conservation area and supporting management plan have been designed to inform future change, development and design in and around the historic heart of the Village, so that its sensitivities and unique character can be preserved and enhanced i.e. keep what makes the village special, special. The public consultation will run for a period of 28 days from Thursday 8th January 2026 to Thursday 5th February 2026 and we really need to hear your views. Those within the proposed area will have received a letter about this last week. A public meeting will take place at the Tithe Barn, Lower Street, Sproughton, IP8 3AA, between 5pm & 8pm on Thursday 15th January 2026. All comments received within the consultation period will be carefully considered to help us (Sproughton & BDC) to finalize the Conservation Area Management Plan (CAAMP) and confirm that it is appropriate to make the designation. The draft proposed CAAMP, including details of the area proposed to be designated as the Sproughton Conservation Area, can be accessed direct from Sproughton Conservation Area Appraisal for you to take a look. Please come along to the meeting and ask any questions you may have and then comment on the proposal. The more people that comment the better informed the proposal will be.

Residents had an opportunity to look at the proposals before the official meeting chaired by Cllr Rhona Jermyn (SPC Planning Committee Chair). Questions were answered by Cllr Jermyn & Babergh officers.
